When I was little I had a fast 3D card… Or I didn’t? Wait wait wait… when I bought my first VooDoo, just when it appeared on the market, it was 1995… or 1996… or was it even 1997? Well, enough googling for dates and other info, all you need to do is look at the Chart!

For hardcore gamers, the right peripherals can make a huge difference in performance and comfort, so not just any old mouse will do. Surround sound headphones have never had a good reputation in my book, but Psyko Audio Labs has come up with a new, novel approach which could change this segment of the market for the better. Enter the Psyko 5.1 headphones and their analog sound pipes, which are supposed to properly emulate a real surround sound speaker system. I’ve been in the market for a new computer case for quite some time. My little Antec Aria has served me well, but I’ve been experiencing a growing need for something with more flexibility. I’ve actually been on the search for the right case for over a year now, but the need hasn’t been pressing enough to rush me. But, I am a firm believer in “don’t knock it till you try it”, so I was more than willing to test them extensively for a few weeks.

I recently received a couple treats from Gigabyte Japan, namely a pair of new Radeon HD 5870 Super Overclock or “SOC” edition video cards. These cards feature a “binned” GPU, a custom PCB with tons of high-end features, and a custom air cooler. They also come with a factory rating of 950MHz for the GPU and 1250MHz for the GDDR5 memory, a significant boost over the 850/1200MHz speed of the reference cards. I took this beast of a card, and as you might expect, I put it through its paces with a buffet of benchmarks to find the absolute limits of performance.
