VisionTek Red Label DDR3-2133 2x4GB Memory Kit Review

If you have been around computers for a long time, then the VisionTek name probably conjures up thoughts of video cards. Actually, that’s not such a bad thought as VisionTek used to be one of the “go-to” names in the video card industry. I owned several of their video cards back in the day, but admittedly, it was quite some time ago. VisonTek has branched out since then and now offers enthusiast level memory, SSDs, and of course, video cards as an AMD partner. Today, we’ll be looking at one of their branch-out products in the form of a Red Label DDR3-2133 2×4 GB memory kit. VisionTek has been working hard to get the attention of computer enthusiasts once again, so let’s find out if this memory kit will help propel them a little deeper into that market.

Enermax iVektor Case Review

Well, well. A new case from Enermax. The iVektor comes in three colors: Black (naturally), White, and a bright Red! And they are advertised as having a “special rubber skin” that supports the blinding white and red colors, and gives these cases a “soft touch.” These are pretty cases. But pretty is as pretty does. How do these cases do? Read on.

G.Skill 16 GB TridentX DDR3-1600 CL7 Memory Kit Review

Well, we brought you two of the higher speed kits in the past. Neither of them did well in testing due to their astronomical prices. Sure, they reached mind bending frequencies, but that alone is not enough to make a reasonable person consider them. With the G.Skill TridentX kit we’re looking at today, now we’ve gone to the other extreme, with a kit rated at DDR3-1600 but with extra tight timings. Let’s find out how it performs!

EVGA Z87 Stinger Mini-ITX Motherboard Review

There’s more Mini-ITX goodness in store today thanks to EVGA’s Z87 Stinger. EVGA jumped on the enthusiast Mini-ITX bandwagon last generation with the Z77 Stinger, and they’re riding that wagon into the next generation. They are also touting a brand new UEFI BIOS with their Z87 lineup, which should top off their new motherboards nicely. I’ll quit rambling, and let’s get into the good stuff…

AMD Launches R9 290 Series Graphics Cards

Well, we’d like to tell you we have a review today, but AMD says pre-launch samples were tight and was unable to procure one for us. They have iterated they will get us one post-launch though, so we’ll bring you a full review as soon as we’re able.

In addition to the fact that they were unable to seed one, we have it on good authority that multiple US offices of board partners (big ones) hadn’t even held one of these in their hands as of late last week. Partners aren’t sampling reference boards, only AMD is, so either supply is tight or AMD is controlling this launch just as tightly. This is, in fact, a hard launch – AMD expects immediate availability. There isn’t any information on supply amounts though. Hopefully they’ll have plenty. Time will tell.

Gigabyte Z87X-OC Motherboard Review

It has been a while since Overclockers.com had a chance to review a Gigabyte board. Not because they haven’t put anything out though, that is for sure. Gigabyte, like all other board partners, came out with an entire line of Z87 boards but we just now had a chance to look at them, specifically the Z87X-OC. While this isn’t the much more robust and expensive Z87X-OC Force, the board still packs a lot of features for the extreme overclocker, which this boards is geared towards. We will take a look at what makes this board tick and see how it stacks up against a couple of other boards we have had the pleasure of reviewing.
