New 3DMark 11 High Temple Trailer Released

It has been over two years since Futuremark released their flagship 3DMark Vantage. With DirectX 11 in full swing, they’re due for an update. We’re happy to bring you that very nice looking trailer as well as some screenshots and info about the bench!

Futuremark press release says “the “High Temple” tech demo trailer shows advanced tessellation and lighting effects rendered in real-time by 3DMark 11’s native DirectX 11 engine. 3DMark 11 is due to be released later this year.

High Temple is a demonstration of the DirectX 11 powered 3DMark 11 engine. The high definition 1080p trailer features a mysterious ruined temple hidden deep inside a lush jungle. Volumetric lighting illuminates the scene with bright sunlight filtering through the dense jungle. Tessellation is used to add rich detail to the temple carvings and the jungle foliage. Post processing delivers depth of field and other lens effects.

“The High Temple tech demo showcases the amazing real-time graphics that are possible today using readily available DirectX 11 hardware,” said Jukka Mäkinen, Futuremark CEO, “With 3DMark 11 releasing later this year and an ever increasing number of games using DirectX 11 there is a lot to look forward to for PC gamers.””

For those concerned about the branding that appears, “The Antec logo placement within the High Temple tech demo is a special sponsorship arrangement between Antec and Futuremark. Advertising placements ensure that Futuremark can offer a free edition of the benchmark alongside the paid editions.”

Of course, that brings us to the very important question on a lot of benchmarkers’ minds -Will 3DMark 11 require purchase like its predecessor, Vantage? The answer is a very pleasant ‘no’ – “3DMark 11 will be released later this year. There will be a free edition allowing unlimited runs available at launch.”

Until then, check out some extra eye candy.

It’s not every day a new benchmark comes out and this is definitely one release that lots of benchmarkers will look forward to…or at least look forward to conquering!

According to their fact sheet, a DX 11 card is required. Additionally, since there is no DX 11 on XP, it only works on Vista & 7.
