Alphacool Apex aluminum backplate for LGA1700 socket coolers
Alphacool today introduces the Apex aluminum backplate. The backplate is designed specifically for Intel’s LGA 1700 socket to optimize the cooling performance of Alphacool’s Eisbaer AIOs and XPX CPU coolers.
The backplate replaces the standard Intel CPU mount on the back of the mainboard and prevents the LGA 1700 socket from bending when mounting the cooler. This serves to protect the mainboard and enables an even and perfect contact pressure for all Alphacool XPX CPU water coolers, Eisbaer AIOs, and their Solo variants. All in all, this leads to a significant improvement in cooling performance.

Recently we had a chance to look at a couple of EK products. I reviewed their 295×2 waterblock, and just a few days ago Lvcoyote reviewed their Supremacy EVO CPU waterblock. Both of those products performed quite well during their reviews. Today, we have a complete custom kit from EK, which they call the EK-KIT X240. This kit comes with a 2×120 mm double thick radiator, their DDC 3.2 PWM Elite Edition pump, the Supremacy Clean CSQ waterblock, and all the parts needed to complete a full custom loop. Today, we will put it through its paces and see how it fares!
A week or so ago, Alphacool announced two new All-In-One coolers utilizing its new NexXxos HPE radiators. Recently, they released these new high-performance radiators as stand-alone products for custom water cooling enthusiasts. The HPE-30 and HPE-45 compliment the NexXxos line-up with the same full-copper design. What makes these high-performance edition radiators different are the increased water channels and tighter fin density. A full array of sizes are available for 120 mm or 140 mm fans and pricing starts at $75. For a complete list of specifications see Alphacool’s press release below.
In a recent press release, EKWB announced an all-new direct die cooling solution for Intel’s 12th and 13th-generation Core processors. Direct Die Cooling (DDC) requires the user to remove the Integrated Heat Sink (IHS) from the processor and then replace the Thermal Interface Material (TIM). The direct die cooler is then installed without the IHS and can significantly improve temperatures. EKWB’s DDC kits come with an EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die D-RGB (Limited Edition or Nickel and Plexi) CPU water block, delidding tool, EK-Exact Mount and ILM replacement die guard, Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal, and two foams for preventing liquid metal spillage. Pricing is not as bad as you might think with the Nickel and Plexi kit coming in at just under $300 before tax and shipping. Pre-ordering has already begun and shipping is expected to start in mid-February 2023. For complete details and pricing, please read EKWB’s press release below.
