Another Golden Oldie! . . .

Yesterday, I spoke about AMD’s well, less-than-current benchmarking.

Little did I know that I would find another fine example of this today.

Take a look here. The page is entitled “AMD Turion ™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology Competitive Comparison.” Per AMD’s own search function, this is a document dated June 24, 2007.

Peruse the specs and you’ll see that while the page lists the very latest AMD products (outside of omitting a mention of the 65nm-ness of the newest CPUs), the page is completely innocent of any knowledge of Intel’s Santa Rosa platform, or even Core2Duos!

Intel announced Santa Rosa May 9, and machines were available for sale very shortly thereafter. I know, because I ordered one for somebody. Merom C2Ds have been out for almost a year.

Yes, Intel still sells Core Duo-based notebooks, but pretending Core Duo is the best Intel has is, well, silly.

It’s getting to the point where you just have to laugh at this. What’s next, AMD is going to compare Phenom to an 8088?

P.S. The 65nm Turion processors have begun to show up in real boxes, HP has a few models with them, so this product is out the door.
