Supermicro C9Z390-PGW Motherboard Review: Enterprise Grade. For Gamers

Today on the test bench we have our first Z390 based motherboard for review. As you know from the title, this isn’t a board from “the big four” as I like to call them, but from Supermicro, a company much better known in the enterprise and server space than for the consumer side and gaming. The C9Z390-PGW we will be looking at isn’t their first foray into this arena however, as they have had consumer level motherboards since the Z170 days. Read More

Intel Core i9-9900K CPU Review: More Cores, Speed, and Higher Price

Back in the day, a new CPU, be it a refresh or brand new architecture, users have come to expect an increase in both clock speeds, as well as some form of IPC increase. Today, in the era of what I like to call ‘core wars’ AMD has started going wide and adding more cores and threads to their CPUs while Intel was behind ever so slightly in core count (for the mainstream platform) and pricing, but excelled in single threaded performance as well as loads that did not surpass the core/thread count. Fast forward to today, in an effort to answer the competition on this platform, Intel has released the Core i9-9900K Processor sporting eight cores and 16 threads with base clocks at 3.6 GHz and Boost clocks hitting the magic 5 GHz mark. EVGA Supernova 650 G3 Power Supply Review

EVGA probably isn’t the first name you think of regarding high-quality PSUs, but they’re certainly no newbies considering they made what is basically the Tesla Roadster of PSUs – top-flight specs that almost everyone wants, but also massive overkill and beyond budget for most PC builders. Today, in contrast, we’ll be reviewing an EVGA Supernova 650 G3 PSU, one that the average PC builder can actually afford, yet is adequate for even a fairly high-end PC. Will EVGA be able to deliver on a budget? Read More

MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio Video Card Review

Today we are looking at our first partner card in the MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio. The Gaming X Trio hails from MSI’s premium line of cards (Gaming) and with it includes a slight overclock out of the box. The main difference between the FE cards and this offering is the Tri-Frozr Thermal design/large heatsink that MSI put on this card. Between its raised clocks, and monster cooler, we are hoping to see better overclocking and performance from this card. Read on to see the results of our testing! Read More
