CES 2025: Patriot Shows Off Fast CK DIMMs, Cool Backup Device for iPhones

Our second stop at CES 2025 was also in the Bellagio, but this time a few floors up at Patriot. Here we spoke with the Marketing Manager and good friend Shannon Robb who showed off a couple of new items.

The first was the Viper Extreme 5 CKD RGB kit, which can currently reach speeds of up to 9600 MT/s. In the image below, you’ll see the kit running at DDR5-9600 MHz and able to pass multiple passes of the Y-cruncher. If you note the image, you can see it’s currently running manually tuned to that speed rather than using an XMP profile, though on store shelves, it will have an XMP profile ready to go.

Next is a cool prototype for the upcoming CAMM2 Memory. With its unique memory form factor, flat for all intents and purposes, there isn’t too much you can do to spice things up and the space, open PCB, isn’t generally pleasing to the eye. So they came up with a cooling device/heatsink with an LED screen on it. They didn’t offer many details, but it’s a sign of things to come for the new RAM. I just wish we could have seen it in action.

Some other cool items they showed off was some USB Flash that, when plugged into your Apple device (for now, Android coming later), automatically takes a snapshot/backup of the device. So in case it gets destroyed, you have a hard copy of all your files on a physical device. One plugs into the bottom of your phone via Type-C with a legacy Lightning port on the other side. The other device plugs into your charger or also the bottom of your phone. We should see these in the 1Q 2025.

Last but not least are some of Patriot’s existing DDR5 kits, specifically the CKD DIMMs.

My better half & I are both long time haters of iCloud. That iLuxe Cube seems to be a cool little product that may help us log out of iCloud for good! :) I'll have to keep an eye out for some reviews of it.

The iLuxe Cube was released about three months ago, so there will be some reviews on the web. It's also available in many stores (just not cheap). I could ask for SSD or RAM, but I don't even have the latest iPhone to test the iLuxe Cube.
What I find interesting is a DRAM-less M.2 SSD rated at 14GB/s. If it runs at low temps, then it will sell well.
