Cherry MX announced a strategic partnership for the new XMG NEO 17 with Schenker technologies (German High-end notebook/desktop specialists). The recently released ultra-thin keys are just 3.5mm tall demonstrating what’s possible with mechanical switches, particularly with laptops. The MX ULP uses haptic feedback instead of the clicking actuation noise. Cherry goes on to say buyers of the high-end notebook get an extremely reliable, fully mechanical keyboard for precise inputs during gaming, frequent typing, and content creation. HERRY MX ULP Tactile: Ultra low-profile keyswitch now available in the new XMG NEO 17 notebook by Schenker Technologies
Auerbach, 12th August 2022 – CHERRY MX, the market leader and expert for mechanical switches in keyboards joins a strategic partnership for the brand new XMG NEO 17 with Schenker Technologies, the German specialist for customizable high-end notebooks as well as desktop PCs: The flagship notebook is not only delivering maximum power through state-of-the-art hardware, but also the best mobile keyboard available at the moment thanks to the fully mechanical Ultra Low Profile Tactile from CHERRY MX. A particular highlight is that the XMG NEO 17 belongs to one of the first laptops with the new, tactile version of the ultra-thin MX switch.
CHERRY MX ULP: Unique and ultra-thin switch for notebooks
The CHERRY MX Ultra Low Profile, which received the German Innovation Award 2022, not only represents a unique and ultra-thin solution with a height of just 3.5 millimeters, but also demonstrates what is technically possible in the field of mechanical switches at the moment. With the thinnest model in the MX family so far, fully mechanical high-end keyboards can be realized, especially in the notebook sector, which stand out in terms of pleasant typing feel, intensive feedback during gaming or writing, as well as high reliability and durability. .
The exclusive and patented switch design includes the feature set of CHERRY MX switches that has been proven for decades, which ensures maximum precision and perfect function even in the ultra low-profile design. This is achieved primarily by the highly precise and extremely reliable gold crosspoint contact system as well as the special choice of materials, such as stainless steel or high-temperature resistant polymer plastic, which are essential for the market-leading specifications of this switch. Of course, the production of every single CHERRY MX switch takes place in Germany without exception.
XMG NEO 17: Flagship with CHERRY MX ULP Tactile
With the MX ULP, CHERRY MX provides notebook manufacturers such as XMG with an exclusive technical solution and with it a way to add another outstanding feature to the flagship models. This gives customers a special added value, because the first-class typing feel including the high level of precision (previously only known from the desktop segment), finds its way into mobile devices with the Ultra Low Profile switch.
The brand-new NEO 17 from XMG also uses this solution: The recently introduced tactile version of the MX switch with haptic feedback is used, which lacks the typical actuation noise compared to the click version. Thus, buyers of the high-end notebook get an extremely reliable, fully mechanical keyboard for precise inputs during gaming, frequent typing and content creation.
High-end laptop with maximum performance thanks to AMD Ryzen and Nvidia Geforce
However, the brand-new XMG NEO 17 offers even more special features in terms of hardware: The notebook series designed for maximum performance includes configurations with the AMD Ryzen 6900HX, which provides 8 physical cores and 16 threads. The high-end mobile CPU is combined with extremely powerful graphics cards from Nvidia: The Geforce RTX 3080 Ti, the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3070 Ti are available. The whole configuration can be combined with up to 64 gigabytes of DDR5 RAM and two super-fast PCIe 4.0 SSDs.
XMG relies on a powerful cooling system with a composite cooler using five heat pipes, separate heatsinks on all four air outlets, two 11-millimeter fans with low-frequency sound characteristics. This allows even the RTX 3080 Ti to run permanently with the maximum specified TGP of 175 watts. The high-end notebook can optionally be upgraded with the XMG OASIS water cooling for even quieter operation and lower temperatures. Besides that, the XMG NEO 17 features a sharp 16:10 IPS display with 2560 x 1600 pixels, 240 Hz, G-SYNC and high color fidelity, as well as a 99 watt-hour battery.
