Okay, this should be one of the last threads regarding my build, I promise =P

I'm on the final parts for my build, with everything either purchased or on its way shipped except for the two Xeon E5620s.

So my question...

What is the difference between an OEM Processor and a Retail Processor?

The OEM ones on SuperBiiz are cheaper than the Retail ones...

Main reason why I ask.

Thanks.

OEM will not come with any accessory's typically like manual, heat sync or even a box.

Already have heat sinks, two CM 212 EVO's.

As for the manual... maybe I can look that up.

I don't even think retail Xeons have heatsinks

The biggest difference between retail and oem is the warranty which is longer on retail.

+1 retail will give you a 3 year warranty.

Some OEM's dont come with a warranty.

Yeah wow, no way in hell im going without that.

For like $20 more, lol I think I can afford it considering they're the most expensive parts in my system, @ $720, GFX card being second, at $410

I have about 4 or 5 crappy retail HSFs I've accumulated over the years because there was *no way* I was going to use them.

OCing generally voids the warranty anyway, so OEM is fine.
