Nice, havent folded in a long time but may start again just for this for a while. Reading the sites though, not seeing how to choose coronavirus specifically in advance config on windows.

[EDIT] I see they note in one article

"By downloading Folding@home here [LINK] and selecting to contribute to “Any Disease”"

Servers have been hammered from all the support on this. If you're not getting any work, just let it run, be patient.

I'm so excited for this. I've been having problems getting GPU work units downloaded for a while, hopefully I can get it cleared up.

Currently, 8 of my 24 gpu slots are idle and trying to get work. My logs show the idle slots requesting work recently, unable to get assignment, then repeating the request. The frequency of request gradually gets longer, but pause/resume will make request frequent again. If the log no longer shows recent activity, the slot may be "hung" and need to reboot the host.

Temporary server outages

This nonsense needs to end now, I'm not going to sit by my folding farm 24/7 baby sitting it trying to get WU's to download, and if the servers are empty of the WU's for this @%&**%#$&*^ virus, then we should get something else till more are available.:mad::mad:

This is an awesome problem to have!
I came back to F@H a couple days ago because of COVID-19 (and, honestly, there's no reason I should have ever stopped idle folding) and it's just great to see that so many are wanting to help!

The problem is that the servers are network and IO constrained, even if they did have WU available they cannot serve all the requests for work. They are trying to spin up more servers but it takes time.

I've been idle for at least 50% of the time for the last 3 days :(

Jesus, great problem to have but, damn, what a dropoff. I came home from 36 hours away and my office isn't an unbearable hell hole!

For all those returning to FAH, remember to use a passkey and set team 32.

Man what a flash back. I just came out of folding retirement to help out with COVID-19. All I have in the mix right now is a laptop with an RTX 2060. I'm keeping to single threaded CPU WU's to keep from burning this thing out. Given the server issues it doesn't look like I'm really missing out by not having more hardware to throw at this.

Anyway feels good to be back despite the circumstances, happy folding!

Having stopped for a very long time, and after seeing Gnerma just pass me, I'm firing everything back up, and some new stuff. Need to figure our how to get my old Titans back up and running too (WC'd with no WC ready rig). Now if I can just get some WUs...

I added my desktop. The GPU WU is only taking 38% of my GTX1080. Do I need to change a setting to get full usage?

So I came back here because of this news, and it's funny seeing that running it for like 2 days more than double the points I accumulated for months back in the 2000s.

Dang...sitting on 995M points and now I can't get a single WU. I might break down my secondary rig and sell for parts since summer is coming. This is great for F@H in general though. I'm sure the server situation will be sorted out soon

EDIT: I did what HayesK mentioned and paused/resumed my clients a few times. That increased the request frequency so my GPUs were able to get WU.

I would suggest gpu folding with reduced power limits and a cool pad to manage the heat issues. Even at the minimum power limit, the gpu slot would do far more science than the single cpu thread.

The GPU ppd sheet shows 900K ppd for RTX2060, which is likely based on core_21 work. core_22 is usually about 20% higher ppd.

On my notebook with 6700HQ (4C/8T) and 960m, I benchmark new projects on CPU and GPU, but only run one wu at a time.
