1.4 bios killed my OC

Ok, all this scared me into using 1.2 for sure in my soon to be NF7-s setup. What I'm wondering is what version is the BIOS that comes stock with the NF7-s 2.0? I don't want to upgrade if its the good version. Also what is the temp differance you guys spoke of? Thanks.

For me, it was a 10C difference between the two BIOSes. 1.2 reads high, and most people think the adjustment that was made for 1.4 is more accurate. But, if you want to overclock high and you can subtract, then stay with the 1.2 BIOS.

I hope the next BIOS release will fix the multiplier issue and keep the temps good.

I'm thinkin' of rolling back to 1.2 if I don't see a fix for 1.4 in a few weeks.

Just flashed back to the 1.2 BIOS and I'm running at 225mhz stable again.

So, uh, when's the next BIOS coming out? It's painful to see my temps in the 40s.

I've been getting a similar problem to everyone here except sorta backwards. Before with my 1.1 bios, I was running 202x12 @ 2.06v stable, and not a mhz higher. 203 would crap out. Now I can run it over 202, up to 215, but prime 95 won't run. I get no errors in memtest, but prime95 craps out right away when I have it set to even 205x12 @ 2.1v. Also, how are you guys getting 225 or high fsb like that? Did you guys mod your boards? I haven't modded my board at all.

the million dollar question is.....what processor are you using....then the 5.2million dollar question is what ram?..without knowing that I cannot tell ya why your not getting 225..hope that helps :D

Oops, I'm running a 2100+ xp, and I'm using corsair xms3200, not the LL stuff. And I'm running water.

All I have done is replace the heatsink on the northbridge and added heatsinks to the southbridge and mosfets. Maybe your northbridge is overheating or maybe you have your memory timings too tight.

I have my timings at 6-3-3-2, is that too tight? What are you ram timings? My nb and sb are both warm to the touch, and i haven't bothered with the mosfets.

what are mosfets...whats that mean...I keep hearing about cooling mosfets and I was wondering what those where....thanks a ton :D

motherboardfaqs.com has a page here that talks about cooling the mosfets (bottom of the page). They're the six little black squares in the top left of the motherboard (next to the parallel and serial ports). They help regulate voltage and sometimes get pretty hot.

They are Metal Oxide Field Effect Transistors

They are used to supply and regulate the current and voltage to various mobo components including the CPU.

I think i found whats wrong with it, Im runnign beta, and I wouldnt want to log into windows no matter what until i lowered FSB ( was higher with 1.1). Then it actually took less voltage to run stable.

from the v14 (for rev2.0 boards) BIOS txt file:

4. Changed DDR400 DRAM timing according to NVidia's recommendation.
5. Updated BPL to v3.01 according to NVidia's recommendation.

how exactly did they change the timings? what does that mean? and whats BPL stand for?

I don't know what code gets changed but when they changed a few things, other things changed too. I lost all my multipliers under 11. About the only one I miss is 200/2000. Other than that 200/2200 works great for me on cool days. Until I get a SLK900U or water block, I'll just have to stay below 50c by adjusting my O/C.
