1.4 bios killed my OC

well i updated to the v14 bios and my old overclock of 207+ FSB no longer works...regardless of timings and i even knocked down the multi to 7x and have tried all uppping the chipset voltage to 1.7v

i guess this is what they meant my changing the DDR400 ram timings. they must have changed some RAM timings that arent accessible through the advanced chipset menu. : /

ive got my ram in the dimm slots 1+2....which is what abit reccomends for non DDR400 dc operation if i remember right. so perhaps inserting the ram into 1+3 will get my oc back?? ill have to try

Try an 11x multiplier.

If I go from 200/2200 to 200/2100 or 200/2000, it won't even post. If I go to 200/2300 it boots into w2k but is unstable unless I go over 1.7v. It'll even post 200/2400 but won't boot. Same settings except for fsb and multiplier. Used to do all those 10.5 and below using the 1.2 BIOS.

Kinda weird huh?

just reflashed to 1.2 and everything is back to normal!

I can even get my old Oc's back.

I can live with the wrong temps as they dont even go above 45c anyways.

I'll wait a few more weeks and if I don't see an update, I too will go back to 1.2.

I'm good enough at math to subtract 10c from my HW Dr readouts

weired indeed. i was able to do 10.5x multi and lower. i just couldnt go past a 200 fsb w/ out instability/p95 errors. ive got her at 200x11.5 1.7v right now and its perfectly fine.

im going to switch the dimms around and see if i can get past 200fsb later on tonight.

Cheng just showed me how to fix it in 1.4.

In the first menu where you set the fsb

enable the CPU interface.

I'm now at 200/2100

It's all good now

same here... i did that(cpu interface) enabled several months ago, since the release of the first rev1.0. ;) had it enabled on all of my versions of boards all this time. ;)

well...messing around w/ the timings on my RAM and was able to go 4-3-2-CL3 @ DDR400 w/ this new BIOS

i had tested DDR400 at my 5-3-3-CL3 timings b4 and that was the tightest i could go.

so thats good news. but i still have not been able to get a stable oc over 200fsb w/ this ram that used to do just fine at 207+

I too am having problems with the 1.4 revision of the bios. I was running at 7 X 200 & could pass prime95 on the 1.2 bios. Now I can't pass test #1. I'm in the process of playing around with the voltages.

Enable 'CPU interface' in BIOS and let us know if that fixed it.

I had enabled "CPU Interface" after flashing the bios to 1.4 & reading through this thread. But it didn't help the situation. I raised my core voltage from 1.75 to 1.8 & that seemed to do the trick.

If you installed the 1.4 bios, is there anyway you can go back to another bios like 1.2 ? And if so, how ?

Just flash it same as you did 1.4.

Be sure to follow the flashing directions exactly.

There's many differant BIOS adjustments you can try with 1.4 that might work if you keep trying.

i tought it was imposible to go back to an older bios when you had flashed your bios with 1.4 ? anyhow i did as someone els did in this thread and used abits windows flashing tool, and it worked so im useing version 1.2, btw what bios is best for overclocking ?
