Hey guys, my nephew wants a new computer built. Budge about $1400 or less?

Getting built for gaming and school.

Already have
22" or a 27" monitor
1TB Seagate HD

Need everything else:
I think a corsair PSU? thats what i have always got
Intel?
6gb average DDR3 ram
I don't think SLI or crossfire is needed. A Decent good GPU should do
I don't thinik SSD is needed as well, maybe raid 0?
And a decent mobo

So Please recommend something. Thx

2500k 225
asrock extreme3 gen3 z68 122
logitech g510 100
cyborg rat 3 42
8gb ripjaws x 49
64gb m4 105
xfx 6950 240
nzxt source 2,1 50
samsung dvd burner 16
corsair tx650 90

total 1139

for his budget a ssd is a given, and well worth it. not sure if you needed the mosue and or keyboard or not, or the os so i went with yes on mouse and keyboard, no for os. most people have it laying around. you could bump the video card upto a 7950 if ya want, though you might need slightly more psu. i would alsop bump the ssd to 128gb just for more space. but that is a pretty good build for about 300 less then you said his max was.

Mobo - Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z = $190

CPU - 2500k = $225

RAM - G.Skill RipjawX 2x4GB = $40

GPU - 7950 = $460

PSU - Corsair TX750V2 = $105

SSD - Curcial M4 64GB = $90 (you said you didn't need one, but use this as SSD caching of the Z68. it will make a big improvement)

Cooler - H80 = $92 (good cooler and it is compatible with almost all cases)

Total is $1202

Below you budget and a well rounded and fast PC. Should be good for 95% of users!

Hope this helps :D

Why not just jump up to the 7970? It's only $100 more and you have $300 more in the budget.

I have $401 worth of stuff in my cart right now, and Newegg lists the grand total as $409. It's $8 for shipping. I'm assuming it's wrapped into the item's price, but it doesn't have any after-tax.

Add in your zip number.

Whenever I buy stuff it has subtotal then taxes and shipping then grand total.

Newegg doesn't have tax, does it? And besides, I could've sworn it said $1500.

it does depending on where you live so does tiger,

in the Peoples Republic of Crapifornia, for example, you get charged because it has a physical presence in the state. Tiger has a presence in washington so they get taxed. Canada must have a universal tax bill where no matter where you order form you have to pay taxes whether its the local tax or buisness or your own local tax or some federal tax i have no idea.

I did - no taxes. You must be in Canada or something (I know it made me pay them if I tried to buy something from there). I live in Utah.

I am from Canada. I don't mind the taxes.

Universal healthcare the right way makes up for it.

But back to topic.

Hopefully the parts list can help the OP get the rig going.

Other than your choice to get a 7950, not a 7970, I quite agree with your choices - although, is a 750W PSU really needed?

And yes, I quite prefer Canada too. I got dragged to Utah by my mom when I was 13, moving back to go to college (I'm a citizen) :p.

The 750 watt PSU will allow sli/cfx on mid range cards down the road. Future proofing of sorts.

so 2500k

Why Gskill? alot of people are choosing the corsair any major difference?

I see 777-21 Ripjaws and 9-9-9-24 ripjaws which is better?

7950 seems a little too much? idk what are the graphics card that around it less power full?

And shouldn't the motherboard be from a famous vender? like Asus or Gigabyte?
