1700+ what to expect???

I'm new to overclocking so can someone tell me what to expect from this setup...


AMD 1700+ (AXDA1700DLT3C JIUHB:0310XPMW)
Abit NF7-S rev 2.0
Geil PC3500 1gb (2x512mb)
Antec True Power 380watts
Thermaltake Volcano 7+
Artic Silver 3

How far can I expect to overclock. I know it varies, but maybe someone has a simliar setup. Thanks for your help!

2.4GHz is probably a reasonable target to aim for. Dunno about your Heatsink - it maybe the weak link in your set up?

I have the same cpu as you in my sig, but my mobo has no pci lock and any higher on the fsb corrupts my HD.

And ditto on the HSF the Volcano has to go.

if you have anything near decent airflow through the case then that tt volcano 7+ will get you about 2.1-2.2 on medium and 2.3-2.5 on high if you can ignore the noise. i have one on my 2100. with 1.65vcoree i run my chip at 2150ish with a full load temp of 47c with a case temp of 28-30c with the fan on medium, with 1.75 vcore i was running 2350ish with 50-52c load temp with the fan on high. its not an slk800 but it is by no means a bad cooler

Valcano's are a good fan source but when you put them on high your'e going to hear them !!!

Inglewood i have same cpu and mobo as you. see my signature. Currently at 12 x 208 = 2506 @1.9 vcore and 2.9 DDR voltage @ full load 51C and stable. Heat sink is your weak link!! I am aiming to get my voltages down when i have finished burnin
