Just like the subject says, I picked up one of these a couple weeks ago. I'm using an abit nf7-s 2.0 w/ kingston pc3200 at 2.9v

my problem is, i cannot get anywhere with this past 2.1ghz.. if i jack up the voltage in the bios past 1.65 the alarm siren comes on and it wont let me boot into the computer till i lower the vcore by which i'd also have to lower my fsb.

i've been able to do 10x200 and also 9.5x210 but thats it. i also set the chipset voltage to 1.7, still no luck.

i wish i still had my 1700 jiuhb 0310 xpmw but the core got chipped on it.

any ideas would be appreciated.

what is ur PSU, what are your temps?
if the core got chipped your temps might be skyhigh coz of bad contact of heatsink with the die. Are you using any thermal paste?

I'm using an ennermax 350. The temps of the cpu are at around 40-45 on full load.

The cpu core on my old 1700 is chipped and dead. The 1800 (which i'm using now) is the one i'm having the issues with.

and yeah dalilman52, its the alarm siren from the board/pc speaker. it just goes off and wont let me go back in till i load default settings or lower the vcore.

I have no idea why it goes on. I disabled the cpu shut down options. And 1.65v vcore isnt anything out of the ordinary anyway.

I had a similar problem with my old AMD 1.33ghz processor. When I boot up to windows everything is fine but after a few hours the siren goes off. I was a overclocker noob at the time and did not realize what the problem was. So I had concluded at the time that the problem was created from the fact that my pc was running for long periods of time and that was the cause because each time I rebooted things went back to normal. That was a good 2 years ago. Since then I have become alot more overclock savvy and I decided to open up that old comp which I no longer am using. Turns out the fan to my NB was dead which leads me to believe that by leaving my pc on as much as I did my NB got hotter over time which evidently lead to the siren going off on my mobo. I thought nothing of it at the time but now I know better.

To sum it all up. I'd check to see how hot your NB is getting. Don't rely on your mobo or some software to tell u how hot/cold your NB is. Get a temperature probe or something more accurate. If all else fails put your cpu to full load for a good 10-20 minutes and touch the heatsink on your NB. Did you burn yourself yet?

i had the same issues, when i put my xp1800 dlt3c in my nf7-s v2 board. before i had a 1700 in there and it was fine but when i changed the cpu and uppped the vcore i would get those dumb sirens too so i updated the bios to the latest and problem solved.
