hey, im really confused as to what is wrong with my overclock. My system is the main rig.

Right i can boot into windows at 300fsb with 1.7v but im not prime stable untill i back down to 270!!!

i have done the normal things eg loose timings ratio 3:2 vga vcore up vdimm up as far as 3.2 and hyperthreadin on / off.

i havent a clue why this is happening, also my temps are 35c idle 43cload

Thanks for the help to come :p Scott

I hit several rest stops en route. 255, 262, 285ish, 300. I can run stable at 303-305 but that requires a 3:2 divider. At 295 I'm using the 5:4. Plus over 300 most boards lose their agp/pci lock. 300 is a point of diminishing returns with the 865/875 mobos.

if the thing boots into windows at 300, having to drop all the way to 270 to get stability is too much. make sure the rest of the periferals, memory mb etc are setup correctly... i can boot at 295 but 290 is stable. usually a 5-10 fsb drop will stabilize the cpu..

Do u mean like timings and 3:2 ratio ?

ok ill try that then and let it fold+prime95 overnight :) and fold tomorrow :)

Anyone else know what could be wrong?

flapperhead could you go into more detail about what you said before?

i have a very similar situation. i have to run at 270 fsb also for 100% prime stability (1.5625 vcore). see my specs below for my current stable setup.

I can boot into windows much higher, but just not stable...

I've tried a lot so far and nothing works so I am getting new ram (1gb Kingston HyperX PC3000) on the 30th, a fan on my northbridge, and new heatsink (Zalman 7000) in hopes that one or all of these will contribute to a higher FSB. =)

i've tried relaxing my memory timings as far as they will go, disabling certain settings in bios, and nothing does it so far... hopefully its just my memory.

the only other possibility we must face, if none of this works, is that our CPUs just arent the cream of the crop like everyone elses. Not everyone can be lucky. But i refuse to accept that yet :)

Will report back

13 hours of prime and folding it is fine at 270 :)

Just have to see if i can go any higher in a few days or if someone knows any other reason why i might be stuck at 270 but can boot into windows at 300fsb :p

Cheers

ok i have been dual priming now for 2 days now i know this is a little early for this so called burn in to work but still no go past 270fsb prime stable even tho i can boot into windows at 300fsb. Does anyone know anything that could be causing this problem?? im really stuck on this one :)

Cheers Scott
