Ok guyz. I have a cheap stick. Corsiar PC3200 512 MB400 (CAs 2.5)
I pass the all the test at 225*11 with 2.9V VDIMM is that high? Will it harm my memory? Well I have side case fan blow direct into the RAM so I dont think it will be that hot. Anyway, let me know what u guy think.
Thanks.

I was told that any thing over and including 2.8V voids your liftime warrenty fromw corsair

Now... how exactelly do they know if you have gone over 2.8v? 2.9 should be fine, I have never seen anyone past 3v without water or something (or I am blind). Can you try like 2.85v?

I've been told it blows some resistor or something... not sure. I could see it being done relatively easily. Whether they actually do it or not is another question.
Been doing this for not very long at all, but noticed that overclocking is plagued with rumours :p

EDIT: lol, perhaps that's just any web forum

lol, I have taken RAM to 3.6v without problems and have heard of others going higher. IMO 3.2v is a safe maximum as long as you have a nice fan pointed at the RAM.
The corsair XMS3000 I have will not run stable over 2.9v at all, whether that is down to the IC or some trickery by Corsair I am not sure.
I have heard of people going to 3.6v on XMS3200 XL, I just picked up some XMS3200LLPT today and that went straight into my PC-DL at 2.9v

Well... that is the only way I can get the FBS go over 225 :D . If i use 2.8 it wont pass the memtest after 219 FBS. Will it better if i get Heatsink for it? Like Vantec Icberg or something? Or just stay at low FBS? Please advice.
Thanks.

imo, 2.9v won't make much matter. if you have decent air movement in your case and don't prime 24/7 or even leave it on all the time, what the hey. if it fails buy another one, 219 is a bit agressive though, if you got down to 215 or 216 maybe you could do 2.8 and still pass memtest, I doubt you could tell the difference and it is possible your ram would like it much better (for a longer period of time).

Ok.. my case fan is blowing almost direct to the stick. Oh well, 215 and 225 FBS that is big dif man :eh?: . After I run memtest like few times it is kindda warn when I touched it. Anyway, we're saying that if I run Vdimm at 2.9V is killing my memory because of the heat? or the voltage? .
If it is the heat... should i get the heatsink for it? even though i have fan blowing directly to it?.
Have anyone here using this memory and run at that high voltage b4?

Most ram can take 3.2V but I don't know about corsairs ram other than their BH-5 being able to do it. Corsairs will say no if you email them because it's over what they spec in their warrenty

Steve

Nope. it is not hot but warm after I run memtest like 5 times. Well, I would not say that I'm doing the stick out of the spec :). Don't think it would be good idea if you want them to give u something else. :)
