Hi everyone,

Hope you guys have a great Christmas. How time flies and soon it will be the start of the 2025 6th annual folding inter-team challenge. It will be a 7-day challenge as usual and will last till Jan 31st to coincide with the ending of BigAdv program. More details will come soon and please feel free to post and discuss this in our [H] website here. Let us know if your team will continue to participate this upcoming challenge.

Now is a good time to fold as the weather is still cold (apologize for those in Southern Hemisphere), bring protein folding awareness, get new recruits, add more hardware (if budget permits ;)), reach personal and/or team goals and most important have fun!

Hope to see you all participating in this challenge again.

You can't wait till we get our Paw's on 5000 series ??:D:D Don let us know if you got this. I'm in.

so how does this work? anything we have to do different?
If they do it the same as last year , they will check the starting numbers for the team and the ending number and count what the team did in between. The individual user (You and I) Just folds as normal with all our might. Our job is to snag 5 or 6 5080's at the start of the contest to guarantee our win.:p

Yes. Recruit. If you know someone who might be in for a race, hit 'em up and see if they will help out. Build new machines. Borg (borrow) with permission as many machines as you can and recruit. You know, Build, Borg, Recruit. ;)

We take note of our points at the start and then subtract that from our point total at the end. The goal is to recruit as many active folders as we can. That's the race. Earn more points than the other teams during the race. So if you had folded and are interested in helping out, get back in. If you never folded and want to help promote T32 (overclockers.com) then lets do that. Lets start now so that new folders can get a passkey and get 10 units before the start of the race. After 10 units with the passkey you get bonus points hence the need for an early start.

If you have extra to put in, get it ready to put in. It's a race with a goal for recruitment.

You nail it! Getting new or "retired" folders to join in again will be the best strategies to win and perhaps more sustainable. Alternatively buy some more gpu cards (5000 series anyone?), overclock your cards like they are in hell :devilish:, fold with CPUs (bigadv is still alive? :p) or if you really need to win this badly, go and rent some gpu clouds (honestly we have no way of knowing and controlling this ;)). Disclaimer: organizer is not responsible for damaged gpus/cpus and/or financial loss.

Rather than "set-and-forget", which I've to admit is kind of unexciting and seeing the output per day stagnant after day one or two, I think this is the time of the year to spread this upcoming event and bring awareness to folding@home while "enjoying" the competition for the next 7 days.

Why do I immediately think of the 'Hawk when you mention "retired" :chair:

Edited to add:
I have a bad habit of "set it and forget it". My fleet has been underway for 84 days (i just ssh'd in to look lol)

1 running 1 more to go in when the current WU finishes, tomorrow I should have a 2080 TI slapped in a case. My uncle has a 4090 but he lives out in the sticks where bandwidth and reliability depend on the clouds so I'm trying to get him to borrow it to me for a week or I would rent it from him, don't need c card like that for serious sam lol

the 3080 xc3 was a tight fit but running exactly as it did in my pc, the ftw is holding 1900mhz at .850mv for thermals but it might do way more after some pad and paste replacement, the little bit I see flakes off like whiteout which after doing my card seems to be the norm for the age of these cards.
