My brother has a 24 pin 510 watts antec psu , and he wants to use it on a regular 20 pin mobo? is there an adapter anywhere or is he screwed so he has to buy a new psu

I think his only options will be to either buy a new PSU or to cut the end off that one and splice a new one onto it.

It's not an AT PSU. The 510 watt Antec is designed for certain dual CPU motherboards. As Avatar28 said, splicing it might be your only option. You can try taking the pins out and putting them in a standard 20 pin connector, but you have to know the prupose of each wire in the 24 pin connector

Wires:

Red = +5VDC
Orange = +3.3VDC
Yellow = +12VDC
Green = Power Supply On
Blue = -12VDC
Purple = +5VDC Standby Voltage
White = -5VDC
Black = Ground
Gray = Power Ok
