I currently run a Soltek SL75DRV5 board and an XP1800@1710mhz.
I was thinking of getting me on of those 2400+ Thorton core chips, seeing as they run on a 266fsb which the Soltek officialy supports. Judging by the T-Bred's, 2.3ghz is a realistic OC with this chip? Is that about right?
But I was wondering, would I be ok running a 2500 Barton on this board? Soltek's website say they do run, but they are not guaranteed.
My only concern is the 333fsb. It wont leave me as much room for overclocking as the 266fsb chips would? Or do I have this wrong?
What does the AGP multiplier do when you get up to a high fsb? Its currently a 1/2 divider. I run a 148fsb right now, so its 4x 74mhz. If I go much higher, my Radeon 9000 crashes out of UT2003 after a few mins.
Is it just not gonna run at all on a 166fsb, or does the board swap to a 1/3 divider or something?
Sorry if this is a bit long winded, but any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks and Merry Christmas all
