I'm thinking of moving up to 2gb of RAM. Will there be a performance difference between going w/ 2x1gb Dual Channel or filling all the slots w/ 4x512mb Dual Channel?

Thanks

You will not see much of a performance difference going from 1 - 2 gigs. But if you do its better to use 2 slots not 4.

Yea honest to god he's right. If you want to throw money away upgrade something else or get BETTER ram and not more :D

The only way the 2x1GB sticks moved ahead in performance is when it was clocked at much higher clock speeds.. Adding more memory decreased the performance in most tests.

I personally run on 4x512 sticks (see sig) I'm not limited by them just the CPU. I use memory intensive programs so yes it helped my preformance out lots but you might not see the same advantages that I've gotten from it. Yet im running DDR1 so im sure there is going to be a difference between the 2 different designs.
