$3,700 to build the best Gaming PC I can, in the Next 2 days. HELP.

ok my friends brother told me after he bought a car he wanted to have me build him a computer.
that was 2 months ago.
2 days ago he got himself some Nissan Z or something like that...

anyways, he had 5,300 left after buying that, and now wants me to get him the best game PC I can.

now, from his life I can tell you this.
he has a old 100 gig in his current PC.... full of Porn.
he has 3-400 DVD pornos.
so he needs a large Hard Drive...
I guess.

anyways, game PC...
I never thought of making one, besides ones for OC.
this ones got to be fast with no OC allowed.
he won't let me...

so I was thinking...
that Asus Nforce 2 board would be a good place to start.

I don't know where to really begin, this is what I can think of in the last 4 hours. just a few hours ago we went out and bought him a few grand in gear already.

a sony 17 inch wide screen LCD panel for a grand.
a Antec True PSU 430.
keyboard.
a Yahmaha 44x.
a sony 16x DVD.
a Black Lian Li case.
(not sure what it was, he picked it out)

anyways, he wants to order by saturday.
have it here by wednsday.
then have me put it all together and such.

anways this has all been very rushed.
I just got on this about 4 hours ago.
he wants this stuff fast cause he's giving his PC away.

gotta rush to the Post office.

I would go Corsair XMS PC3200 ram 2 sticks of 512MB
a NForce2 motherboard
an ATI 9700 pro
a XP 2700+
and 2 WD SE 80GB (as 2 smaller HDDs would be more reliable than one HUGE one)

and I would have gone VAPOCHILL with the excess instead of the Lian Li case...maybe you could do the Lian Li/Vapochill mod

if he has that kinda money to spend, id say get some 15K rpm scsi drives. youd need a controller card for that of course, but i think it will fit in his budget. id say get 4 of them, and do a raid 5 on that. now that would fast, and safe, as far as redundancy goes. that corsair 3200 memory is really good stuff, my brother has 1 512 stick. a friend of mine got his second 512 stick yesterday. make sure you get a good heatsink. the ax7's are real nice. say with a 47cfm delta, or 50cfm sunon. something like that. if you did that scsi raid, you might want more power than that 430 antec. vantec has a 550 or something that is way powerful. goodluck. i wish i was in your position .

with that mobo u can run it outa spec and no oc on the cpu.
and still do 400mhz on the ram.i think anyhow.

plus if hes gaming id recomend a crt over a lcd moniter.but its his money if he likes it keep it.

(PS. why buy SCSI when WD is so close in performance for alot more space????

100gigs on SCSI would cost 500$ vs's

(3) WD's for 348$ that gives you 240 gigs of space....i seriously doubt there is much differance if any between 4SCSI and 3WD

if you are going to spend that much on a system get a pentium 4 w/ 1066 rdram.

most people who get AMD's get it because they have much better price/performance and overclock pretty well also.

btw since he isnt gonna overclock whats the point of gettin all of this elaborate coolin? just get a Alpha Pal8045(the p4 equivilant sorry forgot name) with a 20cfm pabst fan which produces 12dba of noise only. then for case fans use vantec stealths or a bunch of the pabsts.

that is the fastest setup period, any more on hard drive and you hit the pci bandwidth peak. 3 gig p4 is fastest no doubt.

ok, heres his deal.
he likes games, loves porn.
does little else besides drink, play games and watch pornos.
he has a girlfriend, she's super cool about all his weird stuff.
the guys 32 and a lawyer.

he is giving his old computer to my friend Ryan (his little brother)
now, when he called me earlier this morning all he asked me was "what kinda computer do you use"
I told him "amd".

well thats kinda what got him stuck on AMD gear.
I actually tried to open him up to the Idea of an Intel 3 ghz.
he asked me if I would buy one, I said "no not really, it's not necessary for what I want"

thats kinda what sealed the deal.

so AMD its got to be.
now, he wants this soon, so I only have the option of whats around at this moment to get.

now, I am not familiar with Raid 5, so I am not comfortable with that. I know the Asus Nforce 2 board has serial raid, so he can use that later.
since serial drives are pretty much expected to be faster then SCSI, I don't figure it's worth the money.

a Vapochill or Prometeia hardly seems necessary in his case.
He won't let me OC it cause he's afraid of killing it, he doesn't know how to. Plus I don't wanna be over there every day he comes across some little problem.

what else...
oh yeah, DDR 3200 hardly seems necessary if your running at stock 333, and 2 sticks of cas 2-2-2 would work better wouldn't it?
I was doing alittle math and I think I will see if he'll just get two sticks of 512 2700 mushkin.

oh yeah, I was thinking maybe a SLK-800 with a nice quiet 80mm fan, some Paxmate sound matting, lights and gizmos inside.
