Simple question, Will removing the stock cooler for my video card, applying AS5 and adding a 3rd-party video card cooler void my warrenty? Thanks

It will but as long as you keep your old stuff....................
Return it to stock if anything goes wrong with it and send it in.
Most of the time they do not have the time nor the man power to check every single card that comes through the door. They usually look for the obvious things. Cracked boards. Melted things or burnt things out of the ordinary.

It pretty much boils down to your ethics. If you want to cheat the system and try to work the manufacturer even though you have knowingly voided their warranty agreement, it's your problem. Being dishonest simply drives up costs for the manufacturers, who in turn hand off more expense to us, the consumers. It will also make them far more reluctant to include any overclocking/enthusiast features.
If you are or have modded your card, treat it as you should - a part out of warranty. The irony is if you are caught all the wasted time and shipping money will have been in vain!

I have to agree. I thought of writing something like that but I didn't feel like p***ing people off, but it's true. Consumers pay for it in the end. (Pun intended!) :D

Yea, that's a good point but it's just a air cooler that was replacing the crappy POS that the money grabbing board makers put on to save a buck in the first place. LOL, forgive the rant. Point being, as long as no mods were made or the damage was a direct cause of overheating due to adding your own cooler, and you return the card to original configuration, I would have no problem with ethics whatsoever. The manufacture is not going to see it that way and want to keep their money. But I'm sure that allot of damage comes from peeps working on their own cards so I can see their point too.

Now if one were to make mods or overclock to a point that even the 3rd party cooler couldn't keep up, then that's my fault and I would never even try to make a clam.

I agree with Wstinkbait, if you put on a new HS that is doing better than that stock and runs good, more times than not your are saving the company money because of overheating issues. As long as you did not break the chip or mod it a new HSF that is working should be no big deal, if you OCd it untill it fryed then its a different animal

Okay, everyone, let's agree to disagree and leave it at that. Sometimes, these arguments can get ugly, which this hasn't, but just in case I'm extending the olive branch before it does.
