I recently installed high speed Internet for a customer that Had a shuttle mini sys. and used a 42" HDTV for his monitor, top notch Radeon video card with what looked like every type video out connection available, definitely sweet when you can afford that for a monitor but wouldn't using the tv hurt performance for gaming?

I overheard this customer while he was on the phone with the retailer he purchased his Radeon from, he wanted to know if he could trade his Radeon in for the latest version..........of course they said no and he became upset and theatened to take his business elsewhere.
Now I am thinking why didn't I ask him how much he wanted for it!

No I have an all in wonder card and I'm not happy with it at all!
This was a late model radeon 9500 or better.

It should be nice when running in 1080i, or 720p:D
My HDTV adapter should be here next week, and I will see how it will look on a 24" flatscreen TV, with 420i;)

I didn't know that.............I think I will just use a 24" or larger tv, that should be a lot easier in the eyes.

Bigger doesn't mean more resolution than a smaller monitor.

What's the pixel x pixel resolution of that HDTV?

HDTVs are basicly computer monitors, So any performance you have on an LCD screen would be about the same on HDTV.

its not like the old days, on old tube TVs that had thick bulky lines and such

normal TV's like say a 27" can display upto 800x600 in most cases
if your lucky it can do 1024x768 but that only works on ATI cards as nvidia can only do 800x600 out of the TV out
games run and looks sooooooooooooo sweet on a TV at that rez BUT you cant read jack
and i mean JACK so dont go trying to write a paper or nothing
now on a HDTV there is 3 standards rez's for them
theres 480i and 480p (thats 640x480 interlaced and the p is for progresive scan)
768p (duh)
and 1080i (thats 1920x1080 interlaced)

As far as large-screen monitors go, I like the one at work: a Marquee 9500 projector with a 60"x45" screen. It can do resolutions up to 2500x2000 and refresh rates up to 150Hz.

I'm going to see what's the best I can get with my existing sets after I pick up a longer s-video cable.

you wont be able to read text for crap unless it set it @ 800 x 600 and put all your windows fonts to 14 point or higher.

i had to do that on a 52" projection tv - and still, some fonts are hard to read.

i got mine @ 1024 x 768 nw as i use the system for movies and mp3s - and i put all windows fonts and that to 14 point and i can read things fine - as long as the fonts are large it is all good.

not to mention it is fun to play Diablo II Exp on a 52" tv :)

Defualt Tv res varies from tv 2 tv - depends how old or new it is - some old ones are not even made to do 640 x 480, but some as low as 300 something and some 500 something.
