Does anybody know what my performance would be like with SoftQuadro? Has anybody tried it? Would the sky explode and fire rain on the earth? Would it work at all?

The main thing is that since it looks like it works by renaming the quadro drivers (as GeForce2) I don't know if it'll even recognise my card. The MX is a little different, like using the new AA.

I wish somebody could tell me for sure because 3D art is 90% of what I use my PC for. Sig was an odd mistake trying to make this:

Quadro

Going to Quadro should help you out if you do so much 3d art... I think you'll have to stick to using older drivers when doing softquadro... 22.xx and older. Get some progs called GLinfo and GLXcess so you can verify that softquadro works on a particular driver and then benchmark to see the performance difference. Try out a couple of different drivers and you should find some improved OpenGL performace. Then overclock your card a bit.

I guess that's what I'll do. My program, trueSpace, (which I DON'T recommend), works best in Direct X(7). It supports GL but not with all of its features.

PS I already have my card OCed to 457mhz Memory, I keep thinking about ramsinks - maybe they would get me another dozen or so mhz. My card has no fan at all but I'm considering replacing the sink with the zalman gpu sink. Members here put me onto the "memory clock is more important" idea so I think the ram sinks will be first.

I have seen major improvements with a Geforce2 MX using SoftQuadro in OpenGL. The latest drivers that I can use are the 23.12's and I am now using the Quadro2 Pro drivers with no ill effect. Checkout my thread Here

Just out of interest what program do you use for your 3D?? I have been using Lightwave since the good ole Amiga 1200 days
