I know but think of it this way to make a move like that without numbers to back you up in this economy means you lose your 2.2 mil a year job if it turns out poorly.
Besides that, OEM's don't really care if the machines have DDR3 or not, or rather, I should say they DO care because it costs more. The longer AMD stays with DDR2 (up to a point) the more money everybody on the AMD side makes - AMD sells more chips and the OEM's keep lower prices on their boxes ...
