Ok I'll let the pics speak for themselves...well ok I'll write a little bit first.

The radiator is a heatercore from a 1987 SKoda Estelle 120GLS cooled by 2 120mm antec fans at the middle setting.

The idle temps aren't quite idle I was streaming media to my ps3... For those with poor eyesight it sits around 32-35C in a 22c room at idle. *Load is as high as 65c with Linpack . GPU is overvolted as far as msi afterburner will allow giving me 1080/1405 now. The temps stay just under 40c at idle with the 3d speeds as they are and 55c in furmark. Remember this is a near silent PC in my freaking living room.

Here is a link to my furmark for the people that might be interested: http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/score.php?id=032252740d0d01e306293b619b28de0b

*redid my numbers and it seems it is fairing better than I thought only maxing my cpu out at 60c after a very very long time at the EXTREME setting on intelburntestv2.exe

Any Questions? :D

This cost me under $150.

I bought the gpu cooler on sale for $29 (MCW 60R2), the pump wasn't a great deal at $78(655), the hose was $8 and the clamps (bag of 25) were also $8 at Lowes.

To be fair I'm using a Maze 4 I bought about 8 years ago for an athlon XP on my Phenom 9950 so if you included that it would be in neighbourhood of $200 CAD

The main issues to be dealt with were the modification of my new card (drilling the holes out a bit larger).

Thanks guys! I was sick of my 140mm scythe heatsink and the crazy drone from the overclocked 5770. As a bonus my overclock is able to go higher with lower temps now :) The video card could only run 1020 core on air with the fan maxed out before this setup.

When I get the chance I have to steal my ocz 5+ paste back from where I forgot it. These temps are just using the included white zinc stuff that came with the mcw60.

The real inspiration for me was $$$ I wasn't willing to spend the money on the EK waterblock for the 5770, there really didn't seem to be too many options out there.

Thanks all, and feel free to pass it on to th eguys looking to watercool their 5770's on the cheap.

looks good, is that heater core aluminum?

what tubing is that? hardware store stuff? seems like a pretty good bending radius for what ever it is.

and nice fill port cap :)

what airport is that?

Hahaha.

The Heatercore is aluminum as far as I can tell that is why my hoses are really green under the flash (not really that green in reality). I'm using maybe 15% antifreeze with distilled water because I'd like to try to avoid any copper/aluminum reactions.

The tubing is some swiftec 7/16ID stuff I got form NCIX on sale for 8$/10ft It is very nice tubing, better than the crap I can get locally at lowes anyway :(

The airport is CYTR :) The aircraft is an Antonov AN-124 I was showing the aircraft pilot where to go by having him follow me.

This is encouraging! I just picked up a 5770 and I didn't want to buy a new block. I've been using a older Danger Den 6600GT block, first on the 6600, then a x800, x1900, and x1600. If the spacing was different i'd just drill and tap new holes.

So far I've only seen full coverage blocks and half the price of the card itself!

It really makes a difference to my sanity not hearing the fan whine in strenusous 3d operations. It was a little nerve wracking to enlarge the oem holes on the video card but not too hard. Just be careful and go slow.

Any decent hardware store will have the same pitch screws for the block in a longer size. I think I used 2".

Anyone else watercooled their 5770? I want to see the max stable o/c! I keep seeing lots of 950's for this card on air but nothing much over 1000.

I've settled on 1080/1400 and I can run furmark forever like that even with the pump turned to "3" and the fans on low. Good block I'd have to say the $29 mcw60. Volts are maxed out in msi afterburner to allow stable operation on the gpu.

I got mine in and on water! Never even heard the stock cooler run. :D I'm a little wary about not having any ramsinks on the ram but it didn't have anything with the factory cooler so I guess it should survive?

I'll add my clocks in a bit!

Nice job! The MCW60 Rev 2 GPU block fits on any referece HD 5770? Did you needed to do any adaptation?

I'm using at 950/1345 @ air 1.185v but can do 1000/1345 @ 1.25v, but don't feel confortable to mantain it @ air.

Looks interesting.. least its quiet!

im using 1000/1375 on air @ 1.212v and havent had any issues with overheating yet

waiting to get some ramsinks for the back side of the card..on a side note mine is the 2nd version of the cooler with the copper heatpipes in a teardrop shape..i also have a 100+cfm panaflow in my side door that if I really need to crank on willl blow right over the vid card..but it hasnt come to that yet

I love Ghetto coolers. My first custom was an old Honda tranny cooler with a duct taped cardboard box for my system. I used a external aquarium filter pump I picked up at a yard sale for 2 bucks and stripped the filters out for my resivoir. Way to find a way to go extreme on the cheap!

loving it!!
you watercooled system looks near the same as mine!!
except i used the heatercore rad of a nissan lol..
have just brought the hd 5770 and lucky me the waterblock of my hd 4670 that i brought fitted as it was univirsel fitting
got mine overclocked to 1050 core and 1350 mem,at 1.35 v i think i could push it higher if i wanted to but only have it overclocked when i am benching or gaming then reset the thing as knowing my luck it will explode!!
also if anybody else is having problems overclocking the hd 5770 a few pointers are:
1.get heatsinks for the memory! this really does help in maxing the overclock
2.if you have more than 2 moniters like i do it will keep crashing as the 2d clock goes really low if you want to overclock it then unplug one then it will work fine!!
hopefully ati will sort out a new driver to sort this out
but am getting 45+ fps at 4AA with dx 11 in 1650x1050
for a £129 graphics card with a little tinkering is well worth it!!
