Hey guys, I've searched through the archives and still have some questions.

I just picked up a gainward 5900XT (450/780) golden sample. I had rivatuner installed, so I tried to overclock the card, it did, but when I restarted the computer the card went to 300/700 settings. Not even a default setting.

So I tried the "expert tool", the program that came with the card, and it let me set the card to 475/810 and it runs fine. However, when I went back to rivatuner, and went to the monitor tab under, target adapter. It says the core is running a 300 mhz, and mem a 828mhz. Anyone know, what's going on.

Second, I found that everyone recomends the 44.03 drivers. When I attempt to install them, by "update driver tab" in device manager, windows says it doesn't find any drivers for the card in the folder where I extract the drivers.

Thanks guys!

Update:

The 300 mhz is was logging was the 2d clock mode, which is still at 300.

Still wondering what drivers everyone recomends.

Overall, I'm kind of disappointed in the card. Anything over 450 mhz on the core, and Far cry freezes.

Mine also did this and couldn't find any solution except using 56.72.
I couldn't even click on the apply button. Refresh rate overrides also wouldn't keep their settings.

Apparently nobody else had this issue. :(

I tried all the applications I could to overclock the card. No luck. Restarts would reset to 2D BIOS defaults.

...but then
I manually set my frequencies with 61.71 drivers and its stuck!!!!

I'm now back to the frequencies I like, 100% of the time.

Well, I actually got it to work with Expert Tool (program that came with Gainward), and the card runs ok.

Onto the next issue: 3dmark2001se scores are low. From what I searched on this forum, it seems most of the benchmarks are CPU/memory bus speed dependant.

I scored 13,275 here is the compare url: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7931152

So, I'm thinking the score is low, because the video card drivers aren't the best, and I'm running stock pc2700 ram.

What drivers does everyone recommend, and what do you guys think I can do to improve overall system speed.

Help is appreciated.

The 53.03 driver did infact increase 3dmark scores, however the graphics in farcry, specifically the textures look a lot worse.

for benchmarking i like 53.06 the best. and for farcry, so far 61.45 looks and plays the best for me.
