5960x Rampage V Extreme @ 4.6GHZ And Corsair Vengeance LPX At 8x16GB @ 2666MHZ

Edit: Got my system HCI MemTest and RealBench stable at 4.6GHZ for 24/7 use. Also raised voltages a bit an am now [email protected] stable as well. I stress test under 80C with a Predator 360 AIO with a Titan X waterblock in the loop.

Here is my BIOS settings for my 'J' batch 5960x at 4.6GHZ and Corsair Vengeance LPX At 8x16GB at 2666MHZ.

The timings on the memory are good at 13-13-14-33 1T.

If you don't see a setting it's on Default or Auto.

I bought the 'J' batch CPU because they are well known to get higher clocks at lower voltages then other 5960x's. If you are going to buy one really try to find a 'J' batch. I phoned local stores and had them check the batch numbers on the boxes. if it starts with 'J' really great chance you'll get a good overclocker. If you don't have a 'J' batch and can't get 4.6 with these settings try 4.5 or 4.4GHZ. with the settings. You'll still be doing well.

My Experiment with Adaptive/Offset voltages failed.

Back to fully manual with the settings below as before.

I had thought there was few associations with batches in this and last gen cpus...they are all over the map.

Curious what benchmark competitions you enter... and why you are not on our benching team?!!!

I'm in the Novice Nimble 8 competition and our team has won three novice HWBOT competitions in a row and the first one I entered we came second. I move to Enthusiast April 18 so this will be the last Novice one i'm in.

Not trying to be an *** but 4.5 really isn't all that impressive. I don't see you winning any competitions with those kinds of clocks unless there's a speed cap Novice or otherwise.

I bench at 4.7 CPU, 4.6 cache and I pop in my 8x4GB G.Skill DDR4 3000 that runs at 3200. And my Titan X is watercooled and last bench I did I ran it at 1546/8100.

And it's a team effort, an accumulation of scores.

You know anything ABOUT 2011-3 5960x's? 4.7 is really good, a few can hit 4.8 on water, but you're not going to hit 5.0 unless you pump insane amounts of voltages into it and very few even do that for benching. It's an 8 core 16 thread CPU and there ARE limitations as to what it can do.

You know anything ABOUT 2011-3 5960x's? 4.7 is really good, a few can hit 4.8 on water, but you're not going to hit 5.0 unless you pump insane amounts of voltages into it and very few even do that for benching. It's an 8 core 16 thread CPU and there ARE limitations as to what it can do.

Your only limited by yourself and your cooling. Insane voltage is what is needed then insane voltage is what I give.

Now some get 5.0 and higher clocking their fastest core for SuperPi , but in everyday benches you're not going to do better than 4.8 unless you won the silicon lottery and get a one in a million chip, even on water.

Not bad given the clocks your running. Having said that there are numerous submissions with this processor over 5.0GHz. I actually read the HWBOT stats. Again I say break 5.0GHz and we'll talk.

Freeze that *****! Now that I see you struggling with 4.8GHz that gives more credence to the OP. I'm just saying if it's IvyBridge, Haswell, Haswell-E or Skylake and under 5.0GHz don't come around bragging about it b/c you ain't done nothing special.
