In a very hot womens pants...
I'm looking for a psu to power the system in my sig. I currently have an Antec 550 which is doing great but I feel my system cannot reach its full capability's with it.

I would like a single rail psu with a very high 12v amp rating. I was looking at the PC P&C Silencer 750 but its a little more than I can afford after building this system. Any Ideas?

Is the PC-P&C 49Amp 12v Rail on the 610 Silencer not enough for you? It was way overkill for me (PC#1 in my sig), but I don't run SLI (but I do have upto 8 SATA HD's and a hardware RAID-5 card that run peachy off this beast).

If you ask me, Zippy and PCP&C are both jokes, but they are high quality still.

Go with the silencer, or zippy. More than enough on both.

The PC P&C 610W is a Seasonic built unit. Good, but not server grade. The Turbocools are Zippy's competitors.

I feel much the same way about the GXS/Epsilon design and the Capxon and OST capacitors used in them.

I didn't know Tyler's P5WDH Deluxe/e6600 with Matrix Raid was considered a "Server" or was in need of a "Server" PSU ;)

He asked for High Amp 12V Rail in a good quality PSU that won't break the bank ($229 for the PC P&C 750 was too much he said). The PC P&C 610 Silencer is all over this spec IMO... And its rated at 49Amps @ 12V @ 40*C 24/7...

If he had $300-$500 to spend on a PSU, well that would change things IMO...

Rodger that, O.K. Wolf

After my OCZ Powerstream 520 took a dive after 13 Months of light use (RMA Replacement on the way), I went with the PC P&C 610, and it fits my bill (powers 8 HD's, and the rest of my Rig w/o any noticable droop). Those others you mentioned look very suitable as well...

Darkcow - that looks like a Quad 12V Rail PSU - What am I missing?

I guess that it is a good thing I am getting that Silverstone Zeus then? Didnt realize PCP&C was doing that.

I'm curious what O.K. Wolf's response will be.

The Silverstone Zeus appears to be a Quad Rail PSU, and is only $125 at Newegg. The PC P&C 610 Silencer is a 49Amp single rail, and has a higher price point of $169 (price is not everything, but good components obviously cost more money).

Are the PC P&C 610's "Bad" in your eyes? As in way overpriced for what you get? What other PSU would surpass it in quality and capacity (with a single 12V Rail) in the $170 price point? Something rated at ~40*C for fairness...

And how does the upper end of PC P&C compare to the Seasonic manufactured PC P&C Silencers?

I love when people rag on PC Power & Cooling. I to have cracked a few here and there and even strayed away for a bit. Until I see some of these so called High End PSU's on a Chroma 8000 or something equivalent then it's all just talk. Some of these PSU companies are using good components and assembling them with high quality but if the design is bad or flawed than it doesn't matter. The Silverstone looks nice I will have to see if I cant find a real review where they tear one apart and thoroughly bench it to see what kind of load it can handle(with appropriate test equipment). Not some guy that says it ran my 12 HD's and 2 Video Cards and I even OC'd my CPU and it works great and slaps a 9 out 10 on it.

Not really. Build quality is above FSP. They're just not as well built as the Turbocools, or Zippy.

Personally, I don't care for the Strider 750W - it's based on the old ST65ZF and ST60F, and its performance was a bit underwhelming when jonnyGURU tested it.

Section8, every Zippy comes with a Chroma report. And even if it didn't, jonnyGURU's reviews are well done using methodology and equipment I personally consider superior to just slapping a PSU on a Chroma and seeing if it'll hold up at room temps. He's also tested the Silverstones ;)

Keep talking guys, Evently we will decide which psu will fit my bill. I cant afford to have a psu go out and risk frying any thing. Its highly unlikely but I need the best I can get.. I would like for it to be reasonably quiet, not silent but at least tollerable.

So what makes a PSU design bad or good?

oops, forgot that he wanted a single rail.

Antec trio power is supposedly a single rail.
