Whats the difference between the 6800GT and the 6800 Ultra? They both have 256mb, and i cant find any other major differences other than the core speed.

I knoe the Ultra is 50mhz or so faster Core Speed, but is that it? Is it worth the $100 dollars more?

Heatsink on the Ultra takes up a PCI slot, where as the GT only takes up the one... from what I believe, anyways. I could be wrong about this.

More than likely, you'll be able to stock-OC the ultra further than the GT.

yeah the heatsinks are different(except for the asus which is using a 1 slot solution). The GT only has one molex plug. I would also think the memory timings could be different.

they both should have DDR3 ram and both have 16 pipes. I almost dont see the differnce besides the clock speed.

From eVGA's website. The info for each card. These are the differences.

So.. slower ram and lower clock speed. Dual DVI on the Ultra. Extra molex on the Ultra. Personally I don't think it's worth the $100 but yah.

I have both the pny ultra and the bfg gt oc and their is no big difference. Deffinitly not $100 difference especially when dangerden releases the water block for them. At the same speeds the Ultra is a tad faster because of its memory, but nothing noticable really.

hmm the dual DVI is nice for people who run dual LCD's....but then again if you got dual LCD's I'm sure your gonna go for the higher card anyway...wish I had cash :(

Will a 6800 GT with some good aftermarket air cooling be able to overclock the same as a 6800 ultra with the same cooling? I'm talking about things such as the zalman ZM80D, or the thermaltake giant III (if it fits on the 6800s).

Newegg has evga 6800 GTs in stock as of right now, and I am very tempted to order one with next day air shipping.

I dont see any reason why it wouldnt. Even at stock speeds the GT is a great card and plays everything I throw at it very well including Far Cry, Pain Killer, C&C, Thief 3, Hitman 2 and Call of Duty to name a few.
