looks to me though like i will miss out on bull and pile.....make your own pun, but last time i skipped 2 generation CPUs as well. so mabe i should make it routine. CPU and GPU every 2 generations, Mobo alternate generations, ram hard drive as needed and PSU every 4. Case.....never.

been using the same case for over 10 years
 
If I got a HD7870 would my AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0ghz be a bottleneck?

Usually play at 1920x1200.

I just oc'd the cards with the rest of the system on stock settings for tonight..
I only ran Vantage, 3dmark 2k11, and Unigine Heaven. I'll put the heaven results up later..

No micro in the bench's.
The only benchmark programs I have are the Futuremark's and Heaven.
Any other free one's I should do?
 
some game bench marks should do it.

so when do you guys expect the proces to drop now that the nvidia 6 series is being released?
you have to know that AMD planned on dropping that price after that happened, they wouldnt have released first if they didnt plan on dropping the prices when 6xx came out

There is already talk of a replacment for the current 7970, 'apparently' a French reviewer had been contacted by AMD stating there would be a Ghz vertion of the 7970, they would not say the exact clock speed.

For now all this is light talk and its to early after the GTX 680.

As for price drops, well in the UK the 7970 is already around the same price as a GTX 680 (£430)

To me there is no doubt that further price drops will come along for all there 7### GPU's

AMD have always dropped the price of its new products not long after release, and by a lot more later on.

They did this with the Phenom II, 6### GPU's.... the FX-8120 has been out what, 6 months?
On release it was £230, its now £145, a 6870 was £200, is now £130....

It will come, and soon.
