7V/12V "Trick" for quieting a Delta 7K rpm fan (FOP38) and the ABIT KT7A-RAID

Alright, found this, I'm sure there are more:
7V/12V Fanbus quide at Virtual Hideout

Anyway, I have an ABIT KT7A Mobo, and i have to have a fan attached to the fan one header or it will not boot.(not ready to flash my bios yet to turn this feature off) I also like the fact my machine will monitor the fan rpm. My question is this, how/can I do the 7v/12v trick, and still plug it in to my mobo. Is this not possible?

Just flashed to WZb01 and the fan feature is not turned off but the user is allowed to select "on" or "off". I agree, it is better set to on.
