At Future Shop? Quick! Get one!

I picked one up last night (to replace a 7200) and am very happy with it.

It's the same as the Retail ATI 8500 except:
- no DVI out (but it has TV out)
- clocked at 250/250 instead of 275/275
- Infineon 3.6 BGA instead of Infineon 3.3 BGA memory

It ran at 315/305 all night! :D

Yep I posted a thread about the deal at futureshop , it is a smoking deal for us Canucks and performance is say 10% down from a Ti4200, but at a savings of a good $75 less can not beat that.

Get it before the end of the weekend.

About as fast as a GeForce3 Ti500. Better with anisotropic filtering but worse with FSAA (compared to the GeForce3 Ti500).

I like my GeForce Ti500. I had both cards, and the GeForce is better IMO. Totally personal preference. I got my card for 97 bucks.

It is a great card as well, and for what you paid a great deal able to play anything you throw at it!!!!!!!

I don't know if you bought it yet, but I think it's a good deal.
And if you still want to know how the 8500 compares to the other cards Link
It just doesn't have the 9700, but I don't think you're planning to get that :D

as shown in the comparison the R8500 LE 128 DDR pulls ahead at the most commonly played resolution of 1024x768 32 bit.

The edge the R8500 has over the Ti500 is that it is a more overclockable card and THAT is where the edge lies imho.

I would like to see a comparison with the cards overclocked. Either way the Ti500 and 8500LE are great cards still today. And both are not far off the Ti 4200 and 4400 in the tests.
