8500DV help

My friend just built his first computer and the 8500Dv all-in-wonder will not be recognized by the soyo motherboard(p4x400) and just beeps 1 long 2 short. What could be the problem? IT is well seated in the mb. It does get very hot though.

First I'd say try to pull the card out then put it back in, if that doesnt help put in his old card for now and download the newest soyo BIOS for his mobo and flash it. If you still get nothing you might look at the power supply, the AIW 8500s are the most power hungry cards next to the 9700s so if his power supply is less then 300W you might run into trouble.

If all else fails contact ATi or exchange the card for another, it might just be a bad card but ATi's customer support will help you figure out what is wrong if the card is OK.

BTW that beep code means that there is a problem with the video (card isnt in all the way, card is broken... just means it cant get the video card to work) in case you didnt know.
