When I run 3D mark, I seem to score way lower than other CPUs at the same frequency that I am at, even at 4.9GHZ I don't seem to get near the score that I expect, as I can usually only muster up about a score of 7500 for the CPU. Any ideas of why this is so? Here is the result from a run I did at 4.8GHZ. https://www.3dmark.com/spy/19612502

What other CPU's are you comparing your score to? The same CPU? A cpu with more cores? A newer cpu? You are painting with a very broad brush. In the car world there is a saying, "there is no replacement for displacement". In the cpu world, there is no replacement for cores. A higher cpu score will require more of a newer core at a similar speed to see significant gains. Overclocking will only get you so far. This bench is ancient anyways

do you have dual channel ram setup? Ram speed can change those metrics as well

Your 4C/8T CPU scored roughly the same as my old 6C/12T Ryzen 5 3600X. So your score seems fine, with your CPU running faster but with fewer threads.

Checking some of my old review data, I have a physics result of 18507 in 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme. No data for Time Spy but this gives you a number to check against.

8700k is a 6c/12t cpu.

My 8700k@5ghz Gets an 8630 cpu score in Time Spy.
