Someone has offered me an AMD 4870 1GB for $100. I'm currently running an 8800GTS 512. I wanted opinions on how much of an upgrade I could expect. I'm also running a Q9400 @ 3.2GHz with 8GB RAM. I game at 1680x1050. Current games are L4D2, CoD4, Crysis Wars, Demigod, etc. Any opinions would be appreciated.

My friend had same dilema, and he took 4870 1GB 6months ago..

He told me that he has a lot better framerate in high-end games(crysis, grid, farcry2..) in fullHD resolution!

So I would go for it!

You'll see around 20% better frames depending on the game. Not worth $100 IMHO.

I say go for it! Just make sure you sell the GTS to make up for the cost. That way you are only looking at a $20-30 net upgrade cost!
