Yeh , I did not want to give the impression to anyone as NOT to buy a GTX ; but just to give my perspective and experiance thus far card vs card action based on equal systems . So far all (more/new/cuurent) games max out at AF 16X and AA 4/8X (a rare few with 16X AA) ; the GTX then usually beats my GTS with AA above 4X at the same res ; with a notice on smoother play . But with current realsed games supporting much higher resolutions (1680X1250 or higher) these days , less AA is really needed . Some games just show no differance in IQ between 4X and 8X AA (or above) partly due to the coding and graphics were done nice and correct from the start (no jaggies) ; Q4 is one comes to mind . One game that is the exception to the rule , and shows improvement with (and needs) higher AA is F.E.A.R . The more AA the better , and in this requard the GTX definilty wins out . Personally Iam not ever going to base my hardware purchase(s) per each single game and its requirements ( but thats just my own rule ) .
In relation to the bottleneck thing , it really does not come into play with DC Intel or Opty's chips as of yet and a single 8800xx . However with an 8800xx SLi setup and maybe an DC Opty , I can see where a bottleneck may come into play vs a current CD2 (6600 or better) .IMO a pair of GTX's is a bottleneck for any current cpu (Quads only please ) Its just a whole differant ball game with a GTS/GTX SLi setup .
For me I did not really have the funds for a GTX at this time , but even if I had the $$$ , the out come would have been the same ... a GTS ( and Sli'd later on) . Man , $600 out of pocket on a single v/card just has NEVER set well with me no mater the what ; $400+ is where I draw the line . As always ...YMMV depending on ... wallet size ,married or single status , kids or no kids .. heh heh .
