8Pin power plug needed on the mobo?

Ok i have this small problem. I have a 775 mobo coming which has the 8pin power connection along with the 24pin ATX.

My question is; do I need to use that 8pin connection on the board to power the board?

I ask because the back-up psu I have does not have the 8Pin connector. It does have:

1- 4pin P4
6- Molexes
1-20+4 ATX
1-Floppy

It's an Antec TruePower 2.0 530w. I posted this in hopes of modding the psu.

Any words from the wise?

if your not using a quad core then no you only the need the p4 4 pin

Ahh, that's a load off my mind I hope when I get it all setup that'll be the case Noway am i gonna use a quad core for a back-up rig, lol.

it will be fine m8 i used to run my old mobo off a 4 pin even though it had a 8 pin on it

LOL, I used to run my 939 boards with just the 24pin and no P4 4pin. Psu's did'nt have them.

I'm going to run a single core in it. Thx for clarifying it
