I think the oakville one is mobile, thus the lack of the heatspreader, it looks like a 3000+ from the numbers on the chip. Pretty interesting how they got the die size down alot, I'm hoping it will consume less than a 100 Watts.

Is it also smaller not only because of the process shrink, but also because of the removal of half the cache? or is it technically still there but disabled, or something?

Yes it is mobile.

'Oakville' cores should have only 512KB of L2 Cache, like current 130nm 'Odessa' and 'Newcastle' cores, and not any disable L2 Cache, like some 'Clawhammer' cores.
 
wonder if they are going to offer dual ddr for the oakville/winchester ones for the socket 939 or are just 90nm newcastles or both...

If it's supposed to be a mobile chip lets hope it uses less than 50 watts, not 100

I meant the desktop one that's less than 100 Watts. There's the low power A64 mobiles at 35 Watts, and the mobile ones at a max of 62 Watts.
