My buddy is looking to replace the card in his P3 933. He's looking to spend $150 or so tops.

Thanks!

9600 Pro. Used to be the best value, but now the 9600 XT is. 100mhz faster core speed and free HL2. You can get a 9600 Pro for under $150 now.

With a P3 I would actualy recomend he upgrade some other stuff first. If he REALY wants a new card, you realy cant go wrong with a 9600pro though.

Definately the 9600 Pro. If your looking to spend ~200, then I definately get a 5900 NU, much faster than either of the two.

You can always go second hand and look for a 9700 Pro as well...

for 150 tops i would get a 9600 pro since the 5900 nu is around 200, and he might want to start thinking about upgrading other stuff as well.

Depends on what he has - if he has a TNT2 in his PIII setup, a heck of a lot of good upgrading to a Pentium 4 3.0C and dual-channel DDR would do... there are still a fair amount of games out there that will run nicely on a 933 with an FX5600 or Radeon 9600, but would still suck unfathomably on an FX51 with a Voodoo3... I'd just as soon give him the benefit of the doubt and say that his video card is probably pretty weak.
