My room-mate just bought and installed his brand new and sealed BBA ATI 9600XT (the one with HL2 coupon inside) ...

he tried catalyst 3.10, omega corner 2.5.04, yet both shows clock only at 249.75/275 ... even putting the core at 300 gives artifacts on his games (NFSU) .. wth is wrong???

I thought it was the power cable (just like on my 9500), but turns out it doesn't have power connector .. so that's not the problem ..

he got like 6000 on 3dmark01 (on his P4-1.5Ghz w/ 512Mb SDRAM PC133) .. that's not right .. wayy too low ...

HELP!!!!

Sounds like its not a 9600xt at all, but maybe a 9600se.

it does show 9600XT under chip name under device settings, and he bought if from best buy ...... is there any other possibility other than getting a wrong card?? probably some settings on the bios/omega software??

You can always return it. Sounds like it was a messed up packaging error, kinda like some of the people getting the good card out of a crap card box.
