I am building a computer. Getting an AMD2500, ASUS board, PC2700 Corsair XMS sticks 1Gig....so, what video card should I get?? I can't afford and WON'T spend $300 or more on a video card. Someone recommended the 9600XT or a 9700, if the 9700 which one and why?

Please don't tell me to get card X because it's great...I need more detailed reasons, than just "it's a cool card, and runs all my games"

I will be playign games like Splinter Cell, Jedi Knight, Medal Of Honor, SImCity4, Shogun/Medieval Total War basically are the types of games I play.

Thank you

9600XT: 4 pipelines, 128bit memory access
9700 non-pro: 8 pipelines, 256bit memory access

I just built a P4-3.0C rig with 1GB Corsair, ASUS P4P800, HT and PAT enabled, dual-channel, the worx! The Sapphire 9600XT 256MB in it benched 12.136 3DMarks...

My slightly OCed 9500 non-pro benches 14.250, and when I softmod it to a 9700 it benches 18.000-something.

9700 most definatly

As for which one, i personally prefer BBA, but they all follow reference design for the most part, so it doesnt matter to much
