I'm looking for some scores on the 9600XT mainly. I used to own a 9700 Pro, which is dearly missed , so I know about how good the 9700 is (or at least the first builds...rev1). I now run a 9800XT but I'm looking to upgrade dads computer, with a small budget. If anyone has a 9600XT I would like to know how it does, exsecially in games with graphics cranked.

If the question is 9700 Pro or 9600 XT, the 9700 beats the 9600 badly. If you are asking if the 9600 XT is a good card? Yes it is.:D

I have a 9800 XT with stock cooling and the benches in my sig should let you know that the XT line is great. I used CAT 3.9's.

Just built a system for a friend with the 9600XT. 3852 in 3Dmark03, another friend got about 4200 with his newly aquired 9700 (non pro) both were at stock speeds.

Oh, but I have a 9800XT. I am looking for both scores and game prefrmance because I want to upgrade my dads PC and take his old 550 K-6 and make a web server. Not to mention get my bro's of MY PC. I liked the 9700 Pro sreies but for about $60+ less I wanted to know if the 9600XT runs good at max graphics settings for in game play preformance.

Yes, my dad does like to play games and so do my bro's. This is an attempt to get them off of my PC. I also want to make a web server out of his old 500 K-6 machine.

The 9700 pro slaughters the 9600XT. The system I built my friend comprised most of the parts of my old system, except the video card. So the comparison is exactly what you need. The system is exactly the same. With the 9600XT as stated earlier, the score was 3852. When I had my 9700 pro in there it could pull 5000' s easy. Overclocked it broke 6000. In fact I'm still using it in my current system and broke 6400 just yesterday. Sorry I should have read more carefully earlier, for some reason I thought you wanted to compare 9700 non pro to 9600XT.

In fact I like my 9700 pro so much I am starting to rconsider dropping more dough on a 9800XT just so I can be around 7000 points. Thats like $1 per point . Thinking of waiting for PCI express next summer and doing a wholesale change of everything again.

I have to OC my 1.8 to over 2Ghz to score 6000+, I had a 9700 Pro as well, which is dealy missed . I only got the 9800XT because I only had to spend $250 on it, trade up through TCS on a toased 9700, cool.

I have another question for you then. When you crank the graphics in games how does the 9600XT preform in comparison to the 9700 Pro?

It does really well for a mid range card. But it definitely can't keep up to the 9700 pro at higher res. Wish I would have taken some frames per second measurements before giving him his PC. I didn't get the opportunity to try and OC the 9600XT - wish I could get it back for a day.

Ok, so far what I have gathered is that for most games currently on the market the 9600XT makes a great mid level decient budget GPU.
