Well to start I have some background in OCing and I was wondering what is the best processer/mobo combo for the 64 bit AMDs?

I was hoping less then $500 but Im getting $1000 when I graduate in may so up to that. but what would an all out combo be and how much would it cost and the budget includes the price for the fan to keep it cool too.
Thanks

I wouldn't get DFI. I have a friend who had several DFI boards for K7 crap out on him. Go with Asus, I put one in my friends s939 system and it works great.
Try an Asus Nforce 4 SLI and an Opteron 148 s939 (try and get cabne, lol good luck)

well I am semi-partial to nforce chipsets (I have had good luck with them) and I was thinking about a EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra.
Has anyone ever used this board?? for the price and the review on tweek town ( http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/764/10/epox_9npa_ultra_page_10_final_thoughts/index.html )
it sounds like a nice board.
And when It comes to the processer is there any core that OCs better then the others?? and are there any processers that are just "slow clocked" down to the rated speed or are all of them produced so that they run at the rated speed??
I know the athlon XPs used to do that (the 3200+s were just OCed 2800+s)

I have a DFI board, and depending on your temper and computer compitence it'll ether be the best board for you or the worst. Thats just my 2 cent's on the subject of the mobo.

good way to put it. ASUS is the best stable set of boards for those who dont overclock IMO. although a lot of people still manage to do it.

They are very stable, and they do OC... but not as good as the DFI, etc..... Like every situation in life, you have to give up something to get the other..

I love my Asus A8N-E.... stable as rock @ 1176 HTT and 2.65 Ghz... though that's the limit

If you want stability, an Asus board would be IMO the best choice.
