I'm sort of on the look for a new board. My PIII is a slot 1 so I'll have to stick with that. I have heard some good things about the 815 chipset lately. I need some tips on what to buy.

I prefer one without integrated audio and video.

Thanks in advance.

You have only one choice for a slot 1, i815 mobo:

It's expensive ($144 is the cheapest I've seen), and I've seen some negative posts on it, but it's the only one.

I believe that is right. The Abit SH6 is the only slot 1 with the 815 chipset. Whats wrong with your BE6? You might want to do what I just did...sell your slot 1 proc and mobo on e-Bay and buy new socket proc/mobo. A local dealer told me that Intel prices are suppose to drop some next week because of the P4.

Forgot to mention that I haven't seen a SH6 for sale lately. Just like the slot 1 VT6X4. Great board but haven't seen anyone selling it anymore.

Believe it or not, I'm still pretty satisfied with this PIII 800. Runs 100% stable at 1000mhz, And I just installed an 86w peltier to replace my 50w. It will keep it cool enough to keep her at 1 gig thru the summer. The 50w got a little to warm in the summer. So I can live with it for a while. My BE6-II is on the fritz. It wont post half the time, I get Bios checksum errors at bootup sometimes. As well as losing my AGP slot sometimes. So I'm gonna need a new board.

I think I might just go ahead and stick with the BX chipset, And spring for a BE6-II v.2. Can get them for around $120 or so. I dont want to go to a VIA chipset, havent heard to much good about them. Although I guess I dont really look for it either though. Oh, well. I normally dont keep hardware to long anyway. So I think the BE6-II v.2 should do me fine for a while. Atleast as good as this ones done for me till now (except now i will have raid!). This boards been really good to me. Ran My 600E at 840mhz for a long time till I got this 800.

I hear ya. I have a hard time keeping major components for over a year. Just food for thought, I know many favor the slot 1 mobo because one can use the slocket and tweak the voltage; however, IMHO I don't think we will see many new boards in the slot 1 configuration. That is why I went ahead and jumped ship for the entire socket set-up.
