A friend of mine left the state for awhile. He left with his rig turned off. He'd been folding for months, and fiend that I am, I had to get that rig folding again.
It's running MDK 8.2 and does not go to gui mode by default. As a n00b, this presented a problem for me since I didn't know his root or user passwords and had a hard time navigating in run mode 1 thru the console. Well, I managed to add myself as a new user with the adduser command and downloaded and installed the newest linux client with wget. Chmodded and ran it. The Tbird 1200 @1248 folds once again! And I did it all through the console!
Important things to note:
The owner's roommate monitors things and they run their comps 24/7. No problems with electric bill or fire risk issues.
The owner has folded for me in the past and installed the client himself, so no problems on permission.
