I suppose if you are on a realy tight budget a thunderbird is good, but you can pick up an XP from the classifieds for $20-30 if you look.

i have an xp2200 arriving on the 29th if all goes well, fingers crossed please.

Just make sure your motherboard will support an XP either natively or with a bios upgrade. Yuriman is right, there should be an xp available for cheap on the forums usually at any given time. Good luck.

Yeah, but posting and earning your way to other areas of the forum...is very rewarding and in turn makes you appreciate the newly accessed areas. I'm coming up on 250 posts, then I can access the General Discussion. It's almost like a freakin videogame having to unlock these areas.

true, but a bit annoying when you are just experimenting adn dont know if you wanna drop 150 bucks on a MB when you know you could get it cheaper here along with plenty of people who can help you if and when you mess it up.

the 2200 should fit ok have flashed the bios right upto date.
i know what you mean about getting to 100 posts.by the time i get there my upgrade will be finished but it will be good gaining access to other parts of thr forum.

The classifieds are not the great treasure trove that many people think them to be. Sure, there are great deals if there is something you're looking for, but you're not going to find 9800s for $100 or anything like that.

And yes... don't spam to get your post count up. Those who did it previously aren't around to tell about it.
