Anyone tried the 64bit version of XP and the 32bit version of XP with a AMD64chip?

Any big performance differences when using 32 apps, games etc.?

Any learning experiences?

I am not looking for theory CS book stuff here. I am looking for ACTUAL experience and what YOU noticed.

TIA

Windows 64 isn't out yet ;)

so nobody will be able to help ya with actual experience.

It is out on beta. If you have an account you can download it from Microsoft. I know my company does but they won't let me get my "own" copy.

I know somebody has it because I have seen it available to download on usenet.

well thats news to me. its not due for release til 2005. thats a pretty long beta period.

I think you are wrong I have read on Microsoft's site that it will be available this year. Heck I have even seen it on a buddies PC who is a beta tester but he has never ran 32 bit XP with the AMD64.

That's why I am asking. Anyone out there run both OS versions to compare (yes I know the games will still be 32bit code).

any idea on a release date on Windows 64? i've heard some people say around october but most have said 2005 at the earliest.

It's a lot earlier than 2005. Months back it was due before end of 04. It'll be out within months I've heard. 2nd half 04. Problem is that I think first they're going to only ship OEM and not retail.
