they are both mobos from by asus but the a7m has the amd chipset and the a7a has the ali 1647 chipset. i want to know which one those two is better in performance and overclockability (does this word exist?). thanks

ps: does the a7m (with amd chip) support sdram or only ddr ram?

I recommend you avoid both of them. They are overpriced and lack multiplier adjustments.

That being said, the A7A266, which is based on the ALi MAGiK chipset, has both SDRAM and DDR SDRAM DIMMs. The A7M266 only has two DDR SDRAM DIMMs like all AMD 761 mobos.

Most seem to go to 12.5 these days on the multiplier. IMO, the best DDR Socket A mobo is the Epox 8K7A.

Only $126 shipped at http://www.newegg.com

i just visited epox's site and checked out the 8k7a. it looks really good to me. does newegg.com ship to Greece? i don't think so. and if they do it's gonna be very expensive...

The latest a7a266's have the multiplier dip switches...I have one and the epox 8k7a blows it out of the water. Its a great board, especially for overclockers. Plus its cheap...the raid version is as low as the a7a266...the non raid is like 20-30 less.
